Fabrizio Romano says 'incredible' talent will have West Ham medical next week ahead of joining the club

West Ham United have been pretty busy on the transfer front over the past few weeks.

The Hammers have already signed one player this summer, Luis Guilherme joining the east Londoners from Brazilian club Palmeiras.

West Ham were also being heavily linked with Flamengo defender Fabricio Bruno shortly after the season ended, but that move fell through.

The Hammers have a new manager on board in Julen Lopetegui and they will be eager to give him all the necessary tools to hit the ground running.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham look set to make another signing, who will be undergoing a medical with the claret-and-blue outfit next week.

Wes Foderingham set for West Ham medical

The player in question is Wes Foderingham, who the Hammers will be signing as a free agent after his Sheffield United contract expires.

Romano took to X to claim that a medical has been booked next week for Foderingham as a new West Ham player.

The transfer insider also reported that Nathan Trott will be leaving the Hammers to link up with FC Copenhagen this weekend.

“All set on both deals,” concluded Romano.

Who is West Ham target Wes Foderingham?

Wes Foderingham is a 33-year-old goalkeeper with over 400 professional appearances to his name.

The London-born stopper came through the ranks at Fulham before linking up with Crystal Palace’s academy in 2010.

After taking in loan spells at Bromley and Histon, he joined Swindon in 2011, where he made a name for himself and made 191 appearances for the Robins.

Foderingham was then snapped up by Scottish side Rangers in 2015, and he went on to spend five years at Ibrox, with 143 appearances under his belt.

He then joined Sheffield United in 2020 and he once again clocked up over 100 appearances, of which 30 came in the Premier League last term.

Although the Blades struggled last season, Foderingham did have some good moments.

Indeed, former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was impressed by his display against the Reds in December 2023.

“I think Mo (Salah) had after a corner where it was an incredible save from the goalie,” he told the official Reds website.

“I have no clue how he kept that out of the goal, and other moments where we could have played better.”
