Everton considering replacing Calvert-Lewin with one of the fastest strikers in the world - journalist

Following the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is keen to leave Everton, the club may now be lining up an exciting replacement up top.

On Saturday it became clear that Newcastle United were in strong talks to sign Everton’s number nine, Calvert-Lewin, who has just one-year left on his deal.

According to reports, Calvert-Lewin has signalled his intention to leave the club rather than sign a new contract, despite Everton’s advances.

And given Everton’s PSR situation, it perhaps would be a sensible move to allow the wantaway striker to depart, rather than lose him for free in 12-months time.

Perhaps some Everton fans will feel that Calvert-Lewin is still indebted to the club, who stood by him throughout several injuries, but it seems like the striker is ready for a new challenge.

That being said, Sean Dyche’s side have recently been linked with a move for Marseille striker Iliman Ndiaye, who was excellent for Sheffield United in the Championship.

But it now seems as if Everton are targeting a goal-scorer who is already in the Premier League.

Everton are ‘concretely interested’ in deal for Chelsea’s Armando Broja

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, who was initially reporting VfB Stuttgart’s interest, Everton are ‘concretely interested’ in Chelsea’s Armando Broja.

Plettenberg said he had been told that a move to a Premier League club was more realistic than one to the Bundesliga right now, with Wolverhampton Wanderers also in the mix.

Plettenberg explained: “Armando Broja is on VfB Stuttgart’s shortlist as a potential replacement for Serhou Guirassy!

“However, a move to the Bundesliga is unlikely at this stage. Although the player is attracted by VfB’s interest.

“Been told a transfer within the Premier League is more realistic. Everton and Wolves are concretely interested. AC Milan also has the 22 y/o striker from Chelsea on their list. Contract with #CFC valid until 2028.”

Broja hasn’t scored in last 19 Premier League games

Of course, following a disappointing loan spell with Fulham in the second half of last season, Broja is now at Euro 2024 with Albania.

And although Broja was once recorded as one of the fastest players in the world, the 22-year-old is enduring a tough run of form.

Before he departed Chelsea for Fulham, Broja looked confident and fit under Mauricio Pochettino.

But after moving to Chelsea’s rivals, Rodrigo Muniz stole the limelight, leaving Broja most watching on.

Of course, that’s not to say that Broja couldn’t rediscover his form at Everton under Dyche, but any signing would entail some risk.

But if he can rediscover the levels he showed at Southampton whilst on loan in Premier League, Broja could prove a stellar replacement for Calvert-Lewin, a player who still has so much to prove.
