Wilfried Zaha now sends message to Michael Olise as Crystal Palace No.7 prepares to join Bayern Munich

Wilfried Zaha has now got in touch with Michael Olise after hearing about the Crystal Palace No.7’s decision to join Bayern Munich.

The France U21 international had the choice of Chelsea, Newcastle or Bayern Munich after all three made contact with Crystal Palace – who also offered the winger the chance to sign another new contract at Selhurst Park.

However, the 22-year-old has opted to team up with Vincent Kompany at the Allianz Arena, where he will join the likes of Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane in what is now a mouthwatering attack.

So, how did Wilfried Zaha react as Michael Olise prepares to join Bayern Munich? Let’s take a look…

The Ivory Coast international made 51 appearances alongside the £8m man before joining Galatasaray in July 2023 – and he has now wished his fellow winger well as he closes in on a £55m move to Bayern Munich.

Zaha wrote on Instagram: “All the best bro @m.olise proper baller ❤️‍🔥.”

Manchester United and Manchester City also made late moves to sign Olise, with both actually willing to let the man from Hammersmith stay at Selhurst Park for another season and pay for the deal in 2025, due to concerns over the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Ultimately, neither Erik ten Hag or Pep Guardiola’s respective sides were successful with the approach, and Olise is now expected to seal a move to Bayern Munich – presumably after his involvement with France at the Olympic Games is over.

Who Crystal Palace could sign to replace the France U21 international

There have been a number of wingers linked with Crystal Palace this summer who could arrive as direct replacements for Olise.

The likes of Leeds United No.10 Crysencio Summerville have been mentioned as targets for Dougie Freedman, although the Dutchman is stylistically a bit different, as he is right footed and tends to cut inside from the left flank.

Therefore – in terms of profile – we doubt the Netherlands U21 international will be chosen as Olise’s replacement, but instead, we feel Juventus wonderkid Matias Soule could be the man.

Freedman has seemingly been monitoring the South American since January – at least – with Graeme Bailey confirming that the Argentine is a target.

Soule has been compared to Angel Di Maria for his tendency to cut inside from the right flank onto his stronger left foot – something Olise thrives at doing.

Therefore, we would be very surprised if the 21-year-old is not Freedman’s No.1 option to replace Olise this summer.
