'Call him directly': £17m-a-year Champions League winner could now join Arsenal - Sky Sports journalist

Arsenal are searching for high quality players this summer and have apparently made a list of five clubs that one of the world’s best midfielders could choose.

The Gunners just fell short in their battle with Manchester City last season but Mikel Arteta is fully aware he needs more quality and depth to press on further.

So far, Arsenal are being linked with a number of players in the market.

Nico Williams is a player of interest, while Viktor Gyokeres is another who has been mentioned more than once.

The Gunners want a new forward, while a midfielder to go alongside Declan Rice and also a full-back are thought to be high on Mikel Arteta’s agenda.

And now, one of Euro 2024’s top performing midfielders is apparently also open to joining Arsenal.

Taking to X to update fans on the situation with Kimmich, Plettenberg has said that the German star is still without an agent and for now, clubs need to contact him directly if they want him.

Kimmich, it’s claimed, will demand around £17m-a-year in salary, putting him way up the Arsenal payroll list.

Kimmich changes the dynamic for Arsenal

There are a few players in world football who can make a genuine difference for any side in the world and Joshua Kimmich is right up there with them.

The German has been class for Bayern for years now, winning eight Bundesliga’s and also claiming the Champions League back in 2020 as well.

Kimmich is capable of playing across the entire pitch really but the idea of putting him next to Declan Rice in the middle is one for Arsenal fans to dream of.

If Kimmich does sign, then Arsenal might actually haul Man City in next season.
