Report: Nottingham Forest make bid for 'unplayable' star who wowed Michael Dawson last season

Nottingham Forest are going to go in search of some new players this summer as Nuno Espirito Santo bids to strengthen his ranks.

So far, the links involving Forest have been somewhat attractive with a mixture of youthful exuberance and experience being mentioned in various articles.

Forest will want any players that they do add to the ranks to come in and make an immediate impact with minimum fuss.

With that in mind, they will likely be pushing the boat out for certain players – especially if they happen to have a decent level of Premier League experience.

The transfer window is now open and Forest are today being linked with another player, this time from a Championship outfit.

Nottingham Forest table offer for Leeds star Wilfried Gnonto

This one has pretty much come out of the blue.

According to Africa Foot, Forest have tabled a bid of £16.9 million for Leeds flyer Wilfried Gnonto.

The Reds are now awaiting a response from the Whites who have to sell players to comply with financial fair play.

Gnonto has been with Leeds since 2022 when he checked in at Elland Road from FC Zurich in Switzerland.

The player who can operate on either flank is a product of the Inter youth academy and at 20 he has a bright future.

Last season he scored nine goals and registered three assists from 44 appearances for Leeds.

The club’s defeat in the Championship Play-Off Final now means that the Whites are under pressure to cash in on some of their top stars.

Gnonto wowed Michael Dawson in 2023

Michael Dawson called the talented youngster ‘unplayable’ after watching him in March 2023.

He has often proved an electric performer and he’s tormented Forest when he has come up against the Reds.

Now, Forest will wait and see if they can press ahead with talks for Gnonto with Leeds mulling over the deal.

Typically, the Leeds man operates on the right side of the attack but he has played on the left and as a striker before too.

Forest do have a number of right-footed wingers and with that in mind, it does feel a bit of a surprising bid.

However, it’s clear that Gnonto is a top player and certainly one that belongs in the Premier League.

Who Scores shows that the strengths of the player are his finishing and his passing, with no real weaknesses noted.

Furthermore, they also claim that he gets fouled a lot, likes to cut inside and looks to play short passes.

Gnonto is a wanted man this summer and now Forest have made the first move for the tricky winger.
