Injured Aston Villa ace now pictured training with Lucas Digne ahead of pre-season return

Many Aston Villa stars have busy summers for various reasons, with one player’s mind firmly on pre-season.

It’s been a rapid start to the transfer window for Unai Emery and Monchi, who are poised to orchestrate several moves before the June 30th PSR deadline.

Aston Villa have been linked with a number of targets, as well as seeing many stars have their future speculated, with Tim Iroegbunam being the first to officially depart.

Away from the transfer window, some players already have their eyes set on pre-season, with two of Emery’s talents spotted training together ahead of Villa’s busy summer.

Jacob Ramsey and Lucas Digne spotted training together ahead of Aston Villa pre-season

On Sunday afternoon, Aston Villa duo Jacob Ramsey and Lucas Digne were pictured together taking part in a training session in France.

The pair posted a photo on Instagram as they worked together in St Tropez, which is a sight to behold for Villa fans.

It was an agonising season for Ramsey, who after the success of 2022/23, saw his 2023/24 campaign tainted due to injury, resulting in him securing only eight starts.

The Englishman missed over 100 days due to injury over the season, via Transfermarkt, stemming from him suffering a broken foot on international duty last summer.

Ending the campaign with one goal and one assist in the Premier League, there will be hope that the Bodymoor Heath graduate can now have a strong pre-season ahead of next term.

Ramsey will be eyeing a successful pre-season after 2023/24 lows

The 2022/23 campaign was a high point in Ramsey’s Villa career, as he became a favoured member of the squad and contributed to 13 Premier League goals playing under both Steven Gerrard and Emery.

It was devastating for the Englishman to be struck down just as he was building momentum under the boss, adding more emphasis to the need for success in 2024/25.

With new faces having arrived and some still to arrive, Ramsey will face a huge challenge to rediscover his starting place in Emery’s XI, with the hard work starting in pre-season.

Seeing that the 23-year-old is already engaging in training with Digne is a great sight for those at Villa Park, as their prized midfielder is on the road to returning to his best for his boyhood club.
