‘I’m proud of that’: £26m player confirms club have asked Tottenham about signing him this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have wasted no time in shifting unwanted players this summer as they continue to build a squad in Ange Postecoglou’s image.

Five players have already headed out the door on free transfers over the past month, with Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga leaving upon their contracts expiring.

Club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele was the latest to be shown the exit door after agreeing to the mutual termination of his contract a year ahead of schedule.

But Spurs will be eager to start picking up much-needed funds for their squad players and Emerson Royal could command a decent fee.

The full-back is receiving strong interest from AC Milan while Brazilian outfit Flamengo have also recently joined the race to sign him.

Now, Royal has confirmed that Milan have asked Spurs about signing him this summer and he’s expressed his pride over the interest.

What Royal has said about AC Milan and Tottenham talks

It’s no secret that Royal looks set to head out the door this summer and he’s already confirmed he plans to talk to the Tottenham hierarchy about his future.

Now, the defender has admitted that Milan have asked about the possibility of signing him this summer.

“Yes, I know Milan asked Spurs about me. I’m proud of that, Milan is an important club.

“Let’s see what happens with Milan, I’m just happy to know that they are showing interest in me,” he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham’s possible Royal replacements

With Royal not hesitating to comment on his future in recent days, all signs seem to be pointing towards an exit this summer.

Tottenham are already looking at potential replacements for the £26 million defender and have been linked with a host of names.

Spurs have reportedly made contact over signing Monaco’s Vanderson after an impressive season in Ligue 1.

Lutsharel Geertruida is also of interest and it’s been claimed that Tottenham are in pole position to sign the Feyenoord star, despite interest from Liverpool and PSG.

In what would be a less experienced alternative, Leeds United starlet Archie Gray is also attracting interest from Spurs. But they are likely to face stern competition for his signature with Liverpool and Manchester City also keen.
