Report: Newcastle 'monster' who does not want to leave has just been enquired about by another Premier League club

It’s been a whirlwind few hours for Newcastle United fans in the transfer market.

After signing Lloyd Kelly, it seems Newcastle are on the hunt for a new striker.

Indeed, it was claimed that the club were closing in on a deal to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton.

Presumably, that would mean the England forward would act as cover and competition in equal measure for Alexander Isak.

Hailed as a “generational talent” after a stunning season last time out, it is incredibly difficult to imagine the Sweden international dropping out of the starting lineup all of a sudden.

Quite where that leaves Callum Wilson is up for debate.

Eddie Howe has hailed the striker as a “monster” and has suggested he won’t be leaving this summer despite reports claiming he would like to.

In fact, Wilson is even said to be viewed as difficult to sell due to his wages, with the 32-year-old hardly seen as a long-term option for potential suitors given both his age and his injury record.

Now, however, more insight has emerged.

West Ham have enquired about Callum Wilson – but he doesn’t want to leave Newcastle

According to The Chronicle, Premier League rivals West Ham have enquired about a move for the forward.

They suggest the next few days could be crucial to any deal, though add that Wilson does not in fact want to leave St James’ Park right now.

For their part, Newcastle are believed to value the striker at around £18m.

Newcastle have already been proven right in their transfer view of Callum Wilson

While few would be able to doubt Wilson’s record at the highest level, shifting on a player on what are said to be big wages with a dodgy injury record at his age hardly looked the easiest of tasks.

Still, it was last month reported that the club were expecting a market of around £15m-£20m this summer for Wilson.

That looks to have been proven right already, albeit the value of West Ham’s offer has not yet been disclosed.

As good as he’s been, selling up for that kind of money looks wise.
