Report: Tottenham could now sign 'elite' striker for less than £30m this summer

Tottenham Hotspur look set to bring in a new striker this summer and one target could be available at a cut price.

Ange Postecoglou wants to bolster his attacking options over the coming weeks, with doubts surrounding Richarlison’s future.

It’s been claimed that Spurs would be willing to offload the Brazilian this summer should a suitable offer arrive.

Outside of Richarlison, Heung-min Son performed well in a central role last season as he ended the Premier League campaign with 17 goals to his name, as well as 10 assists.

But Tottenham are lacking a natural No.9 and continue to be linked with a new talisman after Harry Kane’s departure last summer.

Despite links to the likes of Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Sporting CP talisman Viktor Gyokeres, all three are likely to command a significant fee.

However, according to BBC Sport, one of their striker targets could be available at a cut price due to his contract situation.

Tottenham target Jonathan David available for less than £30m

BBC Sport reports that Lille striker Jonathan David has been subject to interest from Chelsea as they search for a striker.

But Spurs are also keen on the Canadian star and he’ll cost less than £30 million this summer.

That’s down to the striker entering the final year of his contract with Lille and he isn’t short of interest in the Premier League.

David outscored Heung-min Son last season

David has continued to impress for Lille and Tottenham have been long linked with a move for the striker.

Last season he netted 26 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit – nine more than Son managed for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old has been labelled an ‘elite’ forward and is currently at the Copa America with Canada.

He’s also proven to be prolific at international level as he’s scored 26 in 49 appearances for his country.
