Report: Wolves have scouted potential Max Kilman replacement for two years, they share one important trait

Wolves have reportedly had their eye on a player who could replace Max Kilman for two seasons.

Speculation continues to swirl about the Molineux captain, with a number of Premier League clubs said to be on his tail at the moment.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are both said to have failed with bids.

West Ham offered £25 million, and Newcastle supposedly offered cash plus a player, who was thought to be Elliot Anderson.

So far, Wolves have stood firm over the 27-year-old, as they hold out for around £45 million.

But Wolves know they are likely to come under more pressure to keep hold of the star, and so they have identified at least one potential replacement.

Nico Elvedi is someone on their radar, and has been for some time.

Give Me Sport have reported that Wolves are ready to go back in for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi in the event Kilman leaves the club.

The Switzerland international was a target for the club last summer. In the end, Wolves decided to move for Santi Bueno.

Wolves are said to have known there would be a lot of interest in Kilman and as such, they have done a lot of work scouting Elvedi and are ‘clued up’ on the player.

It is suggested that Elvedi’s durability is one of the reasons he is being considered.

Last season, Kilman played every single minute of Wolves’ Premier League campaign.

Elvedi could be a great addition

So Wolves are linked with Elvedi again, but it sounds as though the club will probably only move for him if Kilman does depart.

Currently, it seems there is a decent chance he’ll go. The star has interest from at least four Premier League clubs, and it is very possible Wolves’ valuation will eventually be met.

Last season wasn’t a particularly good one for Gladbach as they finished 14th in the Bundesliga table, conceding 67 goals in 34 league games – only bottom club Darmstadt and Bochum shipped more.

As per WhoScored though, Elvedi was the sixth-highest rated player in the Gladbach squad and had a very respectable pass completion rate of 88%.

It is thought Elvedi would only cost around £8 million, which really would make him a bargain.
