‘Gone cold’: Chelsea have gone off the idea of signing player who was desperate to join them – journalist

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that Chelsea have seemed to change their mind when it comes to one potential signing this summer.

The Blues have looked to act quickly in order to get the squad ready for new manager Enzo Maresca ahead of him taking up official duties at the club in the coming days.

With it being his first season as a Premier League manager, there is no doubt an expectation there will be more additions made in order to give him a platform to succeed after handing him a long contract.

A striker has reportedly been high up on their agenda of potential players to sign, with it being claimed that the Italian is not keen on starting the season with just Nicolas Jackson up top.

One of the names who was thought to be near the top of the list wasJhon Duran at Aston Villa, despite the fact he only has limited Premier League experience under his belt.

Chelsea gone cold on Jhon Duran

However, Kinsella took to Twitter to state that their attention seems to have been turned elsewhere.

He said: “Chelsea interest in Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran has increasingly gone cold as other targets are considered.“

It had been claimed that the South American was really keen on a move to Stamford Bridge if a fee could be agreed between the two clubs.

Duran was excited to play with Nicolas Jackson

He was even reportedly excited about a potential link-up with Jackson, who is likely to lead the line from the off after an impressive first campaign in the Premier League.

The latest new name to be linked with a move is Jonathan David, who has been a regular in the goals for the last few seasons now.

With there being just a year left on his deal, there is perhaps optimism they can strike a deal for a reduced fee.
