Ryan Preece on potential future with Haas Factory Team: ‘That’d be crazy’

Ryan Preece was taken to a hospital after a scary wreck

With Haas Factory Team maintaining two Xfinity Series cars and a Cup Series team, is there room for Ryan Preece in 2025? The NASCAR driver was recently asked about his future after the 2024 season.

Stewart-Haas Racing is going to cease to exist. Out of the ashes will be the Haas Factory Team owned by Gene Haas and operated by Joe Custer. Rumors have already begun to swirl about who will take over for the Cup team next year.

Ryan Preece might not have a job next season. But is there a possibility that he could join Haas Factory Team in the Xfinity Series?

“Man I don’t know, that’d be crazy, wouldn’t it?” Preece said on the TV broadcast during the rain delay at New Hampshire. “But you never know.”

When pressed about it, whether he would like to race for Haas, Preece kept his cards to his chest. He had the biggest smile on his face as he said it, though.

“I think I just want to win races so we’re going to do whatever we can to do that,” Preece explained. “That’s what I’ve done all my life and we’re going to work hard for it.”

Ryan Preece has sponsorship from United Rentals. Haas has also sponsored him for plenty of races in the last two seasons. So, why not drop down to the Xfinity Series and try to chase a championship?

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. The relationship is there and Preece has the talent to compete in the Xfinity Series. With these Stewart-Haas drivers, every week is an audition to get their next ride. Will Preece land one with Haas Factory Team?

Ryan Preece could work out in the Xfinity Series

Outside of a full-time season in 2016 with JD Motorsports, Ryan Preece has raced sparsely in the Xfinity Series. As a modified driver, Preece was doing the races that he could get to. Ones that were close to home.

Then, he started to get more opportunities. In particular, he was given starts with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017 and 2018 which resulted in wins. That led to a three-year run at JTG Daugherty Racing.

Preece once again went to piecing together a schedule for the 2022 season. He had races with Rick Ware Racing in Cup, BJ McLeod in Xfinity, and David Gilliland Racing in the Truck Series. He once again proved his talent and was put in the 41 car at Stewart-Haas.

While things haven’t worked out in the Cup Series for Ryan Preece, he is talented. He’s also just 33 years old, which means he has a few years yet. He should just now be entering his prime as a racecar driver. Why not try to win an Xfinity championship with Haas Factory Team? That is, if he lands the ride.
