Santiago Gimenez and three other strikers Tottenham can land in summer transfer window

Tottenham are on the search for a striker over the summer transfer window, with a whole host of options available.

With Harry Kane – the Spurs all-time top goal scorer – leaving last summer, Ange Postecoglou opted to use Heung-Min Son and Richarlison as centre-forward options.

The pair found some goal-scoring form, helping the Tottenham boss reach fifth in the Premier League and qualify for the Europa League in his first season in charge.

While the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw plenty of improvement on the pitch, the foundations are set to take the next steps.

A natural striker option is one of those positions on the radar at Hotspur Way to bolster the squad over the transfer window.

So with that said, here’s a look at several options Tottenham could sign at centre-forward in the weeks ahead.

One of the main contenders to succeed Kane is Feyenoord and Mexico star Santiago Gimenez.

At just 23 years old, the striker has shown he is a threat in the Eredivisie with 23 goals and six assists in 30 matches last season.

Gimenez implements his quality with his movement and positioning in the box, often making himself free to finish opportunities.

His timing and direction of runs in the box make him tough for defenders to mark, while he can create an ideal scoring angle on his own.

There are a few concerns in that he isn’t the quickest, while there are questions over whether his form can translate well to the Premier League.

Jonathan David

Another option on the cards this summer is LOSC Lille and Canada forward Jonathan David.

The striker has been playing at the top level since 2020, so it’s easy to forget that he is just 24 years old and still has plenty of his career ahead of him.

Every season he has spent in Ligue 1 has seen the star player hit double figures for goal returns, as last season ended with 19 goals scored.

David’s link-up play will often see him drop deeper to connect the team before making runs beyond the opposition defence.

With one year remaining on his deal at Lille, it could prove to be a potential bargain if pounced upon this summer.

Ivan Toney

Perhaps the closest like-for-like solution Tottenham could have for replacing Kane’s skillset is signing Ivan Toney.

The Brentford and England striker possesses many of the key attributes that were lost when his international teammate left Spurs.

With an ability to hold play up and draw his team into play, as well as his deadly ability inside the box, Toney is an asset in the Premier League.

One thing he perhaps lacks compared to Kane is a killer pass, which the striker was able to pull off time and again in Lilywhite.

Toney has just one year remaining on his deal too, which means a potential bargain yet again.

Dominic Solanke

Another Premier League star could be available this summer in Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

The 26-year-old bagged 19 goals for the Cherries last season, continuing to show his class as he progresses.

Solanke is a threat from inside the box but has also improved upon his aerial ability and all-round play in possession since his days at Chelsea and Liverpool.

The forward has a deal until 2027, which would make any deal tough, especially given his record before last season.
