Report: Liverpool could now make a move for £34m striker who's 'better than Haaland'

Liverpool are looking to make new signings and are now waiting in the wings to sign a striker currently out in Germany at the Euros.

The Reds are into a new era with Arne Slot and FSG are keen to back their new manager with new players as they look to pursue and haul in Man City and Arsenal next season.

For Slot, careful planning alongside Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards is going to be key to identifying and then signing transfer targets.

A number of positions are thought to be being looked at. Including up front, where a new striker could come in after Darwin Nunez finished the season out of form.

And according to a report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool could now be ready to pounce for a key Manchester United target.

Liverpool waiting in the wings to sign Joshua Zirkzee

According to the report from CaughtOffside, Arne Slot is a big admirer of Zirkzee and the Reds are in the mix should he fail to sign for United.

The Dutch forward is thought to have been in talks with Old Trafford officials after they made it clear they’d be willing to trigger his release-clause.

That clause is believed to be around the £34m mark, which for a top modern day forward, is not too ridiculous.

Lauded as being ‘better than Erling Haaland’ back in 2022, Zirkzee certainly seems to be a player who has caught the eye of a lot of big clubs.

Arsenal and Tottenham are also known to have looked at Zirkzee, while AC Milan also really like him.

Quite whether Liverpool would pull the trigger on this one, remains to be seen.

The Reds are known for being meticulous and then efficient with their transfer business.

This one, then, could be done out of nowhere and quickly if it is to come about this summer.
