Report: Cristiano Ronaldo's side want to sign 'special' Newcastle player Eddie Howe signed in 2022

A Saudi Pro League side have made an approach to sign a Newcastle United player, according to a recent report.

The Magpies just missed out on European football last term so the onus will be on Eddie Howe’s side to finish inside the top six.

To do that, though, he’ll need to be backed in the summer window with a number of quality additions to bolster his ranks.

That said, the former Bournemouth boss also needs to keep his best players, with it now emerging that a Saudi Pro League side are taking a keen interest in one of his star men.

Al-Nassr approach Newcastle United about Bruno Guimaraes

According to UOL, Al-Nassr have enquired about Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who is currently away at the Copa America with Brazil.

The 26-year-old’s £100m release clause has officially expired, so he’s now expected to stay at St James’ Park unless an eye-watering offer arrives.

Arsenal and Manchester City have both made recent approaches for Guimaraes but it appears they’ve now cooled their interest.

The Brazil international, who has been labelled ‘special’, has always remained firm in his stance that he has no desire to leave Newcastle, so any departure at this stage would be very surprising.

Newcastle will be focusing on Yankuba Minteh deal

Newcastle will be focussing their efforts on offloading Yankuba Minteh after his proposed move to Everton collapsed.

They value the 19-year-old winger at £40m and will be hopeful of finding a suitor before the end of the month – when the financial year ends.

That way, they’re more likely to stay in line with Financial Fair play regulations, thus avoiding a possible points deduction like Everton and Nottingham Forest.

A telling week lies ahead.
