What Nicolo Zaniolo has now said about Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz’s transfer to Juventus

Aston Villa loanee Nicolo Zaniolo has shared his opinion on Douglas Luiz’s pending transfer to Juventus.

It’s a crucial week for Aston Villa, who are set to offload several players in the bid to ease their PSR concerns.

Tim Iroegbunam has already departed Villa Park, with Douglas Luiz and Omari Kellyman set to follow in the coming days.

Luiz’s transfer to Juventus has been the talk of Villa’s transfer window so far, as the Brazilian is part of a swap deal involving Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea.

While the deal has not yet been made official, one player associated with Unai Emery’s side has shared his verdict on the pending transfer.

What Nicolo Zaniolo thinks about Douglas Luiz signing for Juventus

Ahead of his official departure from Aston Villa, Galatasaray loanee Nicolo Zaniolo has shared what he thinks about Luiz’s move.

The Italian, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Villa Park, looks set to return to his homeland and could meet the Brazilian in Serie A in the near future.

In a recent interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Zaniolo opened up about what Juventus can expect from Luiz and gave his opinion on the deal.

“When it’s official, I’ll send him a message: we’ve always had a good relationship in Birmingham. For Juventus it is a great coup.

“Douglas Luiz is a top player: a very strong player of international level. He demonstrated this in his last season in England.

“We are talking about a complete, total midfielder. For us he played in the midfield pair or as a midfielder, but he has so much quality that in my opinion he could also be used further forward, as an attacking midfielder. Just look at his seasonal numbers.

“Luiz scores and lets people score, but he is also someone who runs, recovers balls, and inserts himself in the area. And above all he sets the game, dictating the timing of the manoeuvre.

“He is worth all the money Juventus invested in him and I am convinced he will give the Bianconeri a big hand.”

Zaniolo likely to meet Luiz in Italy next season

Zaniolo’s assessment of Luiz is as true as Juventus can get, having experienced first-hand just how impactful the Brazilian can be in midfield.

The Villa loanee made 25 Premier League appearances last term for Villa however, failed to make any impact, which could see him now come up against Luiz in Italy.

As reported, Zaniolo’s most likely destination is a return to Serie A, where numerous clubs are speculated to be circling his movements, with an exit from Galatasaray all but certain.

The Italian, who is currently injured, will hope to get his career back on track in his country, with the task of now having Luiz as an opponent beckoning.
