When Douglas Luiz will have Juventus medical ahead of Aston Villa exit amid Copa America duty

Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is edging closer to completing a transfer to Juventus, with a medical now scheduled.

The subject of Aston Villa’s summer so far is the pending departure of Douglas Luiz, who is poised to join Juventus.

As Unai Emery and Monchi bid to ease Villa’s PSR concerns, the Brazilian is set to be sacrificed as part of a swap deal with the Serie A club.

In return, Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea will arrive at Villa Park, with Luiz now set to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Turin.

Luiz’s exit has taken a host of twists and turns, as several options have been explored to sanction his departure.

At first, Weston McKennie looked to be part of the deal however, due to financial disagreements, the United States international was replaced by Barrenechea.

Now that those involved in the transfer have been confirmed, Luiz’s move to Juventus is clear to proceed, with a medical now scheduled during the midfielder’s Copa America participation.

As reported by TuttoSport, the Brazilian will undergo a medical in the United States after Brazil’s clash with Costa Rica on 25th June.

It’s added that Juventus’ medical staff are ready to complete the medical in order to finalise the 26-year-old’s move, which will end his five-year association with Villa.

Luiz deal is finally set to be completed

Now that the transfer has been widely covered, Villa fans are better prepared to see Luiz depart.

The Brazilian was an integral part of Emery’s squad last term and has seen his quality expand over the years at Villa Park.

It will be devastating to see Luiz exit the club before their Champions League quest however, given Villa’s PSR concerns, the time is right for the midfielder to bid farewell.

With Iling-Junior and Barrenechea ready to come the other way, it is a bittersweet transfer for the Villans, who will acquire two top young talents in exchange for their prized possession.

For Luiz, the transfer saga will have been considered background noise as he prepares to commence Brazil’s Copa America journey tomorrow night, as the Selecao aim to go far in the tournament.

Once a medical is completed, the clubs will prepare to unveil their new signings in what has been a fast, but complicated, transfer saga over the past few weeks.
