'Amazing: Frank Lampard left blown away by what £65m Chelsea target has done at Euro 2024

Frank Lampard has just spoken very positively when talking about a player linked with Chelsea in the transfer rumour mill this summer.

The Blues will surely be keeping a close eye on the Euro 2024 tournament to see how their stars fare, but they’ve been linked with a number of possible targets currently competing in Germany.

Of course, one good major international tournament doesn’t give you the full picture on a player’s ability. It’s a big sign when you can mix it on the biggest stage, though.

Frank Lampard super impressed by Chelsea target

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has just delivered a glowing verdict on Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, who’s someone he previously crossed paths with when he was coaching the Blues.

This comes at a time when the 23-year-old is currently linked with a return to Stamford Bridge.

The former Chelsea youngster is currently excelling at the Euros, where he started both of England’s opening two groups stage matches and been a standout in the backline.

When discussing Guehi on BBC Radio 5 live, Lampard said: “I gave him his debut at Chelsea, a really polite, humble lad. You could see that he had all the attributes that could take him a long way. Particularly, as I say, the personality. He wanted to do well.

“I really liked the idea of working with him at that time because when a young kid comes through and shows that humility and wants to do well, that’s an amazing thing to work with as a coach.

“But to go away and play as he’s played at Palace, to come into an England squad with high pressure and everyone was going, ‘Oh, we’re not sure…’. He’s now one position we’re not talking about which is an amazing achievement from him.”

Marc Guehi links

Football.London claimed last month that Chelsea have Palace’s central defender Guehi on their transfer radar for this summer.

However, The Telegraph says that Palace would demand at least £65m if they were to sell Guehi this summer.

Guehi has established himself as a very consistent Premier League defender in the last few seasons with Palace. He’s actually only two games short from 100 top-flight appearances.

With the way he’s playing in an England shirt, it’ll be no surprise to us if he soon earns a big-money transfer.
