Big blow for West Ham as report claims Leeds could sign 21-year-old for £12 million this summer

Leeds United could be about to deal West Ham United a real blow in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui faces a big rebuild at West Ham, and he needs to make real inroads into that squad overhaul in the summer transfer window.

Lopetegui needs to bolster pretty much every single department of his squad this summer, but he’s said to be prioritising the addition of a centre-forward.

It’s little wonder as to why – Michail Antonio has been our number one striker for far too long now.

Not that he’s been bad for us, far from it in fact. However, the Jamaica international is 34 now, and he has regressed over the past year or so.

The likes of Sebastien Haller and Gianluca Scamacca have come and gone, and now Lopetegui needs to get the striker signing spot on.

There are plenty of options out there for West Ham, including Bayer Leverkusen ace Adam Hlozek.

I think the 21-year-old could be a really exciting addition to Lopetegui’s ranks in the summer window.

The latest report coming out of Germany is bad news for the Hammers it seems…

Leeds to challenge West Ham for Adam Hlozek

The former Sparta Prague man is someone who the Hammers have chased for quite some time now, and we actually tried to sign him back in the summer of 2022.

He ended up joining Bayer Leverkusen instead, but he may finally be set to get his move to England.

Will that be to the Premier League or the Championship though?

According to a report from Bild, Leeds have entered the race to sign Adam Hlozek from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

West Ham were said to be eyeing up a £12 million move to sign the 21-year-old just a couple of days ago, but Leeds’ interest in the Czech Republic international will be a real inconvenience for us.

That’s not to say we can’t beat them to his signature, but the fee needed to prise him away from Leverkusen may now go up, with two parties chasing him.

He possesses exceptional technique, impressive pace, is a very good finisher and has the potential to go on and become a truly elite striker.

A £12 million deal to sign Hlozek in the summer transfer window would have been great value for West Ham. I think we might have to pay a little bit more for him now though, if Lopetegui wants to sign him.
