Chelsea speak with £30m star’s agent
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack on Tuesday that Chelsea do hold an interest in signing Lille striker Jonathan David.
It is understood that David, 24, is attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League for the first time in his career.
Phillips explains that the attacker’s agent has made contact and spoken with a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham.
The journalist’s sources feel like the Lille front man could eventually end up joining Spurs, but there’s definitely interest from the blue side of London.
According to HITC, David may be sold for just £30m.
Jonathan David a potential bargain
In fairness, David is possibly great value for money at just £30m in the current market.
The Lille striker scored 26 goals in 47 games across all competitions last season for his club. He managed nine assists, too.
This is a forward who’s already netted 121 goals in club football for Lille and Gent, with pace and physicality a big part of his skillset.
Of course, it would be another big step up in England’s top division.
