West Ham and Tottenham mash up England flag spotted at EURO 2024 means one thing

Who would have thought it? A West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur mash up England flag at EURO 2024.

Wow, just wow is all I can say. Ahead of the England vs Slovenia EURO 2024 clash out in Germany this evening, I witnessed something absolutely awful.

West Ham and Tottenham are sworn enemies and due to the absence of Millwall in the Premier League, the north London outfit are definitely our fiercest rivals right now.

Former Hammer Trevor Sinclair explained why the West Ham and Tottenham fans simply don’t get along recently:

“For West Ham fans, from my experience when I was at the football club, it’s edging towards hatred,” Sinclair said when explaining the rivalry.

“They’re very close (geographically), they were closer obviously where Upton Park was, but the fans live amongst each other in that east-north-east and Essex area of the country.”

“There’s a huge rivalry, certainly for West Ham fans, because they do feel that Tottenham are a bit flash and they think they’re the bees knees and they always love to beat them.”

And current West Ham Sporting Director Mark Noble actually alluded to that as well, when speaking to TNT Sports.

Those kind of rivalries are what make football so great in my opinion. It’s impossible to generate any kind of passion or intensity without it.

Maybe it’s just not that way anymore though.

Those last two words – passion and intensity – are things that the current England team have been totally devoid of under Gareth Southgate out in Germany.

After two poor performances against Serbia and Denmark respectively, many thought that Southgate would make some big changes for the Slovenia clash.

In addition to that, the England fans expected a big reaction from the players. Neither of those two things happened in the end.

In fact, it was a display that was symbolic of something truly shocking that was spotted in the stands at The RheinEnergieSTADION.

Whilst the Three Lions improved slightly in the second-half against Slovenia, it was still a really drab all-round performance.

Southgate has his work cut-out if he is to get this squad of players anywhere near the quarter-finals, let alone win the tournament.

However, England’s lethargic performance was nowhere near the worst thing on display out in Cologne.

Check this out – a picture of an England flag adorned with the crests of both West Ham and Tottenham:

Words fail me they really do.

England flag spotted in Germany means one thing

The picture above proves one thing to me, and that’s that football is officially dead.

Long gone are the days of fierce tribalism that induced such intense atmospheres at games.

The fans of yesteryear have been replaced by a new breed of neutrals who seem to switch teams when the wind changes.

I don’t like it one bit. The West Ham and Tottenham mash up flag spotted out in Germany at EURO 2024 tonight signalled the end of a glorious era for me.

I cannot believe we’ve reached a point where fans of the Hammers and Spurs are buddying up whilst travelling away with England.

This is a game I simply do not recognise at times now, and I long for the day when normal service is resumed!
