Report: Premier League club now hope to sign £50k-a-week Wolves star 'this week' as they prepare new bid

Wolves captain Max Kilman is a target for West Ham United – and it has now been suggested when they hope to sign him.

Wolves have yet to lose any players this summer.

Speculation has been rife about many players at Molineux after the 2023/24 season, which saw a number of people have solid campaigns.

In recent days, Kilman has been the subject of a lot of reports about his future.

Despite him being the most used player under Gary O’Neil last term, Kilman could potentially be an exit this summer, with at least four Premier League clubs on his tail at the moment.

West Ham are one of those clubs, and it may be sooner rather than later that a deal is finalised.

So far, Kilman has been the subject of a couple of bids from West Ham, and also one from Newcastle United which was said to have included Elliot Anderson.

Up to now, Wanderers have stood firm over Kilman, who they value as high as £45 million.

Ultimately, the club don’t really want to lose him. But every player has their price, and there is a real possibility that Wolves will eventually get what they are asking for, given the level of interest.

The Guardian have claimed that West Ham remain very intent on signing Kilman though.

Apparently, they are now hopeful that they will sign the defender ‘this week’, and are currently preparing another bid.

The Guardian add that it is understood that the next bid from West Ham will not include a player.

Wolves in a good position over Kilman

So West Ham appear to feel hopeful that they can get a deal for Kilman done this week, so clearly a big next bid must be on its way.

We are still quite early in the summer and Wolves are not under pressure to sell Kilman.

So this next bid that is being prepared really needs to be worth around £45 million, otherwise you get the feeling Wolves would be happy to reject it, especially knowing other clubs are keen.

It will be interesting to know if £50,000-a-week skipper Kilman himself would actually be open to departing Wolves this summer.

So far, there has been no word at all regarding how he feels. He did recently suggest that he was fairly happy at the club, but perhaps he would be willing to move on.

He may well feel that by doing so, his chances of breaking into the England squad would increase.
