Report: Former employee could raid Tottenham of player with 'unbelievable pace' as he holds 'unique advantage'

Tottenham Hotspur could see a familiar face arrive at their door this summer to take back one of the players he has already signed.

It has been a steady start to the summer transfer window at Tottenham with the majority of their early work seeing players leave the club.

Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou have offloaded a number of players already who simply have not made the cut for the Australian in his first year in north London.

The most significant of all the departures has been that of Tanguy Ndombele who has been released on a free having previously saw Spurs break their transfer record for him.

And there could be more to follow this summer as Spurs look to cash in on more players who have been outcasted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Former Tottenham employee holds ‘unique advantage’ in race for defender

Spurs may well have offloaded a number of players already this summer, but the club are yet to bring in any money for them.

The early moves done by Spurs have been business decisions rather than deals with Spurs concentrating early on to get certain players off their books.

But now the focus will be switching to cashing in on some of the players who they still have up for sale.

The likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Rodon are just two of the players who fall into that category.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, former Spurs employee Gretar Steinsson holds a ‘unique advantage’ at Leeds United in brokering a deal for Rodon.

The Leeds technical director was the man who helped get Rodon’s loan deal over the line last summer having previously worked at Hotspur Way.

Rodon is a player who is not expected to be in the plans for Postecoglou, but a deal with Leeds may prove difficult following their failure to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Although Leeds are well aware they may not hold a financial advantage over other interested clubs, it is clear Steinsson’s past with Spurs may put them in an ideal position to negotiate with Levy.

Does Joe Rodon deserve another chance at Tottenham?

The 2023/24 campaign was a mightily impressive one for Rodon on loan with Leeds in the Championship.

Of course, the Wales international was playing in the second tier, however, he put in some exceptional displays for the Whites as they pushed for promotion.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke had some big words to say about Rodon during his time at Elland Road.

“He has unbelievable pace and it is good when we have to defend that high in the field, it helps,” the German told the media.

Spurs find themselves in the market for another centre-back this summer to provide back-up to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin.

However, Rodon could potentially offer them with a solid option at fourth choice but the Welshman has now had the taste for regular first team football which could be on offer elsewhere this summer.
