Chelsea now ‘put off’ from signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran for two key reasons

Aston Villa are preparing to offload several players this summer however, Jhon Duran’s future may not end up where the striker desired.

Unai Emery and Monchi are preparing to bid farewell to Douglas Luiz and Omari Kellyman in the coming days, as Aston Villa put an end to their PSR concerns.

Tim Iroegbunam was the first to depart as he joined Everton, with Lewis Dobbin coming the other way in a separate deal to represent Villa’s first capture of the summer.

While others are expected to depart after Luiz and Kellyman for reasons beyond PSR, not every figure will get their wish granted.

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran may not join Chelsea for two reasons

Since January, Villa have been aware of Chelsea’s desire to sign Jhon Duran, with talk resurfacing earlier this summer.

While the Colombian is understood to be desperate to join the Blues, speculation has died down in recent weeks, with GIVEMESPORT now outlining two reasons why Enzo Maresca may opt against signing the Villa man.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that while Duran is one of Chelsea’s striker targets, he is not considered a frontrunner at this moment.

Jacobs added that Chelsea are ‘put off’ by Villa’s £40m valuation of the 20-year-old, with the Blues having their own reservations over the fact that Duran is ‘impatient for immediate game time’.

Given that there are already doubts about the striker’s suitability at Stamford Bridge, it could be assumed that a move is now unlikely unless conditions change.

Duran’s future is unlikely to be at Villa regardless of Chelsea’s concerns

Duran is in a difficult situation at Villa, with his desire to join Chelsea lowering his reputation at Villa Park.

The 20-year-old showed glimpses of his quality last season, however, was far from being near the starting XI due to the undeniable impact of Ollie Watkins.

Aside from wanting to leave the club, it’s understood that Emery does not see the forward in his immediate plans, as Aston Villa News was told by HITC journalist Graeme Bailey, read more below.

It seems that it’s the end of the road for Villa and Duran, who is seeking an adventure elsewhere on his quest for regular minutes although, Chelsea may not be the destination after all.
