Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is attracting admiring glances, with Chelsea the latest club to show an interest.
After netting 25 goals in all competitions for Newcastle United last season, multiple clubs are wishing that Alexander Isak was their striker.
Arsenal were the first to eye a deal for the Swede, only for the Gunners to quickly realise that he would cost them far too much money.
But while Arsenal have backed off, now another London club are testing their luck.
Chelsea speak to Newcastle about signing Alexander Isak
It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Chelsea have launched an enquiry about signing Isak from Newcastle this summer.
They report that talks have taken place between the two clubs, with the Blues making it clear that they would like to bring the 24-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Mail add that Chelsea are aware that they would have to break their transfer record to sign Isak, who was recently tipped to become world class in the future by Sweden and Celtic legend Henrik Larsson.
Alexander Isak has spoken about his Newcastle future already
While Chelsea are keen to steal Isak from Newcastle, the Magpies’ most expensive signing ever has already made it clear that he is happy with life at St James’ Park.
He spoke about possibly leaving Newcastle at the beginning of June, and made it clear that he has no plans to call time on his Toon career just two years after arriving from Real Sociedad.
“I’m really, really happy at Newcastle,” he told Fotbollskanalen.
“I had my best season of my career. You can’t underestimate that. I love everything about the club, the fans, the city.
“I don’t really have any thoughts of moving or anything like that. I’m having a great time and I’m very happy with my life.
“It’s not something I speculate about. Within the team or the club, there has been no talk or drama around it. I have not received any information from the club that they would have to sell me.”
Newcastle’s asking price for Isak will be huge
Isak has been very open about his love for life on Tyneside, making it clear that he has no plans to leave Newcastle United this summer.
That is a view shared by the club, who have no interest in selling the best striker they have had since Alan Shearer.
Isak is an elite centre-forward, and someone who Newcastle believe can become one of the best in the world in his position. He is well on his way to becoming that, which is why he draws comparisons to Arsenal icon Thierry Henry.
The Magpies are determined to keep their best players this summer, which is why it would take a ridiculous offer for them to even consider letting Isak go. It was reported earlier this year that a bid of £180million would be required for Toon officials to start thinking about a departure.
They do not want to sell Isak, and they do not want to sell Bruno Guimaraes either. He is the other world class player that Newcastle have, and the Magpies took a giant step towards keeping him this week when his £100million release clause expired.
