'It won't be cheap': Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are ready to sell 'incredible' player but only for big money

Arsenal are open to selling a number of their players this summer.

The Gunners’ dream of winning the Premier League title ended in disappointment for the second season in a row after they fell two points short of Manchester City on the final day of the 2023/24 season.

Mikel Arteta‘s side deserves a lot of praise for going toe-to-toe with the champions until the end, but the fact of the matter is that they are still not ready to leapfrog them to win the title.

The biggest reason for that is Arsenal’s squad depth, which is nowhere near as good as Manchester City’s.

That’s why Arteta and Edu need to move a few players on in order to make room for new ones to come in and take their place.

Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest on one Arsenal player who could be sold this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reacts after rumours about Arsenal’s price tag for Eddie Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah has been at Arsenal since he was 14.

The striker joined the Gunners after being released by Chelsea, and he came through the ranks at Hale End before breaking into the first team.

Now 25, Nketiah has played 168 games for Arsenal in all competitions, but he just hasn’t been able to nail down a place as the first-choice striker at the club.

That’s why numerous reports have claimed that Arsenal are ready to sell Nketiah this summer.

However, talkSPORT shocked many people by claiming that the Gunners are demanding an eye-watering £50 million for Nketiah.

That is huge money for someone who scored just six goals in all competitions in the 2023/24 season.

Romano addressed the reported price tag, but he claimed that he isn’t aware of Arsenal deciding on the final number of Nketiah yet.

However, the journalist did confirm that although Arsenal are open to offers, they will not sell him for a small fee.

He wrote in his Daily Briefing: “I’ve been seeing reports about Eddie Nketiah and a possible price tag of as much as £50 million for him at Arsenal.

“However, I’m not aware of a final price tag being decided or communicated for Nketiah – Arsenal are expected to consider proposals for him but for sure it won’t be cheap.

“There’s interest from clubs in England but again, it’s not something advanced or concrete now as the strikers domino in the market is expected to start after the Euros.”

Which clubs want to sign Nketiah?

Nketiah will not be a regular at Arsenal next season, but he could easily become the main man somewhere else.

Yes, the Englishman can be frustrating to watch at times, but his movement is excellent, he always finds himself in good positions inside the box and his finishing is impressive too. Mikel Arteta has even branded him as ‘incredible‘.

Arsenal’s asking price may cause a few problems, but there are quite a few clubs interested in signing Nketiah this summer.

Reports have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Fulham are all interested in signing Nketiah before the transfer window shuts in August.

Everton were also linked with a season-long loan deal, but that seems unlikely when there’s so much interest in the Arsenal man.

It will be interesting to see where he’ll end up in the coming weeks.
