Report: Potential Max Kilman replacement linked with Wolves now in 'advanced talks' with another club

A player reported to be an option for Wolves to replace Max Kilman is now in advanced talks with another club.

Wanderers are facing up to the idea of losing their captain this summer, with West Ham United especially keen on the 27-year-old.

They have already seen one bid rejected. But it has been claimed that they will return with another, and they actually hope to wrap up a deal for Kilman ‘this week’.

It remains to be seen if that comes to fruition.

But it would certainly now be wise for Wolves to ensure they have a list of replacement options.

One player who has been linked with a move to Molineux recently is David Carmo. But by the sounds of one report, Wolves may be set to miss out.

David Carmo started last season with FC Porto, but then went on loan to Greek giants Olympiacos.

The central defender had a really good spell out on loan, and ended the season as a Europa Conference League champion.

Carmo was also named in the Team of the Tournament, along with his fellow loanee Daniel Podence.

Olympiacos have been keen to bring him back after his successful few months with them. Now, Sport24 have claimed the club are in advanced talks to sign the player.

Olympiacos would like to sign Carmo on loan again, and have an option to buy worth £10 million. Or, they would like to purchase 50%-60% or more of his rights, with an amount close to £6-6.7 million.

Porto are claimed to want a mandatory option worth just under £12 million.

Negotiations continue, and there is even a mention for Wolves and also Leicester City in the report. Both clubs are monitoring the situation.

Olympiacos are said to be optimistic about a deal for Carmo.

Wolves could miss out

It will be interesting to see how this pans out, because it sounds as though Carmo is closing in on a move to Olympiacos on some kind of basis.

For Wolves, it may well be that an approach is only made if something is going to happen with Kilman.

Obviously West Ham are trying to sign him at the moment. Wolves may be waiting to reach an agreement before they decide to move for a replacement.

If a deal to sell Kilman is agreed in the coming days and Carmo has not yet reached an agreement to join Olympiacos, then the club surely must try and hijack that move. Just as they did to steal Pedro Lima from Chelsea.
