Report: Player set to sign for Nottingham Forest stunned at treatment from current club

Nottingham Forest have made ground in their efforts to land a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.

It now appears very close that Forest are going to bring Corinthians stopper Carlos Miguel to the City Ground.

The 6ft 7in player will become the Premier League’s tallest player when he eventually checks in and he looks extremely uncompromising.

It was claimed earlier this week that Miguel will be joining Forest and had now completed a medical with the Reds.

Forest also have Matz Sels in their ranks as a goalkeeping option and Miguel will seemingly provide some competition.

Now, there appears to be another update on the deal involving Miguel to Forest.

Carlos Miguel left stunned ahead of Nottingham Forest transfer

It would appear as though the 25-year-old has now burned his bridges with Corinthians.

Earlier this week it was claimed that manager Antonio Oliveira has banished him from the training ground and launched a rant at the goalkeeper.

Now, according to El Globo, Miguel has refuted the claims regarding him faking an ankle injury to get out of playing.

It’s suggested that he felt that the accusation was incredibly harsh given that he did actually have an injury that kept him out of action.

It’s claimed that he was prepared to play had he been fit but that the negotiations with Forest were advancing quite far down the line.

Forest-bound Miguel has been left upset and surprised with how Corinthians have treated him, feeling that they’ve tried to damage his reputation.

Miguel will face a fight for number-one spot at Forest

The Reds signed Sels for £5 million from Strasbourg in January and he proved a very useful singing.

It’s not unfair to say that had he joined the club sooner, Forest might not have been quite so close to relegation last season.

With that in mind, Miguel can’t come to Forest and instantly expect to claim the gloves.

Nuno Espirito Santo will likely take a good look at both goalkeepers in pre-season and then decide who gets the gig for the first game at home to Bournemouth.

Miguel does look like a shrewd addition at just £3.4 million, however, and he will fancy his chances of keeping goal for Forest next season.
