Report: PL side have informed Arsenal they'll only consider astronomical offer for 'brilliant' player

Arsenal have been told by one Premier League rival that they will need to pay an astronomical fee if they want to sign their star this summer, with the asking price potentially in excess of £100 million.

The Gunners are looking for the signings which are going to take them across the line in the Premier League, and potentially in the Champions League.

One area which could potentially do with being strengthened, should the right player come along, is up front, despite the brilliant form of Kai Havertz in the second-half of the season.

Havertz surprised a lot of people as the season went on, so you would imagine that Mikel Arteta would be content to stick with the options he has, unless the perfect player comes onto the market.

Arsenal told Alexander Isak will cost astronomical fee

It was reported earlier in the year that Arsenal are big admirers of Alexander Isak, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best strikers in recent times.

The Guardian reports that Arsenal are yet to make formal contact about a potential move for Isak, but Newcastle have still told the Gunners that they will only consider letting him go for an astronomical fee. The report goes on to suggest that he could cost well in excess of £100 million.

Pressure somewhat taken off the Gunners

Arsenal appeared to be wary of how much they were spending towards the end of last summer as they signed David Raya on an initial loan deal. Meanwhile, they signed no-one in in January when it was clear that they were very much in contention to win the league title.

So it would be a real surprise if Arsenal had the kind of funds to make Newcastle an offer which they would take seriously for the ‘brilliant‘ Swede. There have been reports previously that Newcastle would even want at least £180 million for Isak.

The good news for Arsenal is Havertz showed some real potential last year, with his best performances for the club coming when he was playing up front. And they also have the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the ranks.

That takes some of the pressure off of Arsenal in this window, and means that they can wait for the perfect opportunity to come along before they upgrade their striker options.
