Report: 'World class' player who Arsenal want to sign will discuss his future after Euro 2024

Arsenal will have to wait until after the Euros to find out if they can sign a ‘world class’ player, according to a recent report.

Arsenal will have the sole ambition of finally winning the Premier League title next season for the first time since 2004.

After running Manchester City close the previous two seasons, they’ll feel well-equipped to finally pip to the summit with a few quality additions in the market.

With that said, one rumoured target will discuss his future with his current club after Euro 2024.

Mikel Merino to discuss his future after Euro 2024

According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is set to discuss his future with the La Liga outfit after the European Championships in Germany.

The 28-year-old is currently away with Spain and has appeared in all three group games, including a start in the 1-0 win against Albania.

TBR reported earlier this week that Mikel Arteta personally phoned Merino to try and convince him to join the North Londoners.

Though, now it seems any forthcoming departure won’t happen this month, with a meeting scheduled to clarify his future likely to take place in July.

Merino is expected to reject a new contract and is tempted by a switch to Arsenal.

Arsenal must remain wary of Barcelona

Merino remains on Barcelona’s list of targets this summer so Arsenal must still be wary of the Catalan giants.

Though, there is a belief that Barca are worried The Gunners will pip them to the deal, so it seems Merino is favouring a return to the Premier League, where he previously played during his short stint at Newcastle United.

A telling few weeks await and Arsenal will certainly be keeping close tabs on Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign.
