'Concrete talks': Sky Sports journalist says CL club are 'pushing' to sign 'exceptional' Liverpool midfielder

Arne Slot’s arrival could open the door for many ins and outs at Liverpool this summer.

Reds fans bid an emotional farewell to Jurgen Klopp on the final day of the 2023/24 Premier League season, and replicating what he did will not be easy.

Slot has taken up the challenge, and there is a lot of excitement to see what he will do in his debut season as Liverpool’s head coach.

Before the season starts, however, a few players could leave Liverpool. Here’s the latest on one of them.

Sky Sports journalist shares transfer update on Liverpool’s Tyler Morton

Tyler Morton has been at Liverpool since he was seven years old.

The talented midfielder came through the ranks at the club’s academy and impressed in all age groups. He even made his senior debut under Klopp in the 2021/22 season in a Carabao Cup game against Norwich City.

Morton has since made nine first-term appearances for Liverpool and has often earned praise. Jurgen Klopp branded his football brain as ‘absolutely exceptional‘ following his performance in a Champions League game against AC Milan back in 2021.

The 21-year-old spent the whole of last season on loan at Hull City, for whom he played 41 games in all competitions. He directly contributed to eight goals.

Morton has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool, with La Liga side Sevilla said to be interested in signing him this summer.

Now, another club are really keen to get him – RB Leipzig, who finished fourth in the Bundesliga and have qualified for next season’s Champions League.

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that ‘concrete talks’ have taken place between Liverpool and Leipzig over a deal for Morton.

However, as things stand, the Reds are not happy with the terms produced by the German outfit, who want to sign him on a loan deal with an option to make that permanent in the following summer.

Plettenberg tweeted: “RB Leipzig, still interested to sign Tyler Morton from Liverpool! Concrete talks took place. Leipzig, pushing for a loan with an option to buy. LFC, not interested in this loan structure.

“The 21 y/o can really imagine to join RB now. But no agreements yet.”

How much money Liverpool want for Morton

Liverpool have always been excellent at selling players.

The Reds very rarely let anyone go for a small fee, and that is why their finances have always been in a healthy position over the years.

Morton is a player who has only played nine games for Liverpool, the last of which came in 2022. If you didn’t know anything about the Reds, you would imagine he wouldn’t be worth a lot of money.

However, reports have revealed that Liverpool are demanding £20 million for Morton this summer.

RB Leipzig and Sevilla are keen to sign him, while English sides Bournemouth, Southampton and Ipswich Town are also interested in his services.

It will be interesting to see where he’ll end up.
