‘I will decide’: £100m forward approached by Liverpool admits he will decide future after Euro 2024

Having been linked with a move to Arne Slot’s new Liverpool project, one forward has now admitted that a decision needs to be made on his future.

Liverpool aren’t expected to welcome an influx of signings this summer, given Slot inherited a very strong squad from Jurgen Klopp.

But as well as signing a new centre-back as a Virgil van Dijk insurance policy, Liverpool could add a winger to challenge the starting eleven.

Mohamed Salah should be raring to go, and there’s very little doubt that he’ll be a key player for Slot, as he was for Klopp.

But perhaps there is more debate to be had on the other flank – could Liverpool find an upgrade on Luis Diaz?

That might be harsh on the Colombian, who was brilliant in his country’s win against Paraguay at Copa America on Monday.

But in a summer in which Diaz has been extensively linked with a Liverpool exit, it might be best if Slot and his team move first.

That being said, Liverpool have reportedly made an approach to sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Kvaratskhelia starred for Georgia in their historic win against Portugal at Euro 2024 on Wednesday evening, reminding the world of his talent.

The Liverpool linked forward scored Georgia’s opener and showed exactly why he could be world class in Slot’s new Liverpool set up, which is likely to lean on its winger’s creativity.

That being said, Kvaratskhelia was then asked to comment on new Napoli manager Antonio Conte’s words on his future.

Conte recently declared that the Georgian would be staying at the club – a crucial player for his new era.

However, speaking via Fabrizio Romano who posted his comments on X, Kvaratskhelia didn’t seem quite as certain, even if he did confess his love for the club.

Kvaratskhelia said: “I respect Conte, he’s one of the best managers”.

“I also respect Napoli, I love Napoli”.

“I will decide my future after the Euros. Now I’m focused on the game vs Spain”.

Of course, Kvaratskhelia will likely be hoping to delay talks regarding his future once Georgia have beaten Spain too, an historic feat a player of his echelon is capable of inspiring.

Valued at around £100m, Liverpool may be reluctant to conclude a deal this summer, but if Kvaratskhelia makes himself available and a move can be negotiated, then the Georgian could be the poster boy of Slot’s time on Merseyside.
