Report: 'Prodigy' has just decided he wants to stay at Newcastle after links to rival Premier League club

A highly-rated Newcastle youngster has no intention to leave St James’ Park this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Newcastle are one of the clubs under pressure to sell this month in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

As such, a number of players have been touted to depart, with Callum Wilson the latest to be linked elsewhere.

Though, one player who has been mooted with a departure has now made his desire to stay on Tyneside known.

Elliot Anderson wants to stay at Newcastle United

According to Chronicle Live, Elliot Anderson wants to stay at Newcastle United this summer after being linked to Wolves.

The 21-year-old was reportedly offered in a swap deal to the West Midlanders for centre-back Max Kilman.

But, it has now emerged, that Anderson is expected to remain at the club and is eager to impress in pre-season.

It’s thought Newcastle are aware that his sale would massively boost their Profit and Sustainability situation given he’s homegrown, however, Eddie Howe is a big fan and seems keen to keep him in his squad.

After an injury-hit season, Anderson will be hopeful he can kick on and become the ‘prodigy’, as labelled by the Daily Mail, many expected him to be.

Newcastle may consider Sean Longstaff sale

With Anderson now expected to stay, Newcastle may seriously consider the sale of Sean Longstaff – another homegrown asset.

The Tynesiders have just days remaining to raise the necessary funds to avoid a charge, so Longstaff, who has been linked to Leicester, could leave imminently.

The Foxes are said to be readying a bid, so this deal could move quickly with Steve Cooper now appointed.

A telling few days await Newcastle.
