Report: Chelsea consider intriguing proposal for 'quality' £10.4m Nottingham Forest player

Nottingham Forest are under pressure to sell one of their top stars this month to ensure they comply with the latest PSR cycle.

Last season, Forest were hit with a four-point deduction after being over the threshold when it came to losses permitted.

A number of players have been considered by other clubs since the 2023/24 campaign finished.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with Tottenham and after costing just £3 million, he would have raked in considerable profit.

Another player linked with a move away from Forest is Morgan Gibbs-White, with West Ham and Tottenham previously wanting him.

Then there is Murillo. The Brazilian defender is being courted by a number of clubs and after costing just £10.4 million, he would be a big cash cow when it came to making a profit.

Now, news of big interest from a Premier League club in a Forest player has come to light.

Chelsea now want Forest defender Murillo

According to UOL in Brazil, Chelsea are weighing up a move to sign Murillo during the transfer window.

However, there is no indication of an actual offer with Blues struggling to match the £55 million asking price.

The Blues are considering making a lower offer, however, and including one or two players in their deal to sign the Forest man.

It’s claimed further down the report that although a number of clubs like Murillo, the asking price is putting clubs off.

Atletico Madrid have made contact with Forest but couldn’t afford the demands and Liverpool have also been linked.

Chelsea are once again active in the market and it now remains to be seen what they will come up with in the way of a compromise.

Murillo did only cost Forest £10.4 million and anything they do manage to get for him would represent a significant profit.

Forest must prepare for life after Murillo

Getting something over the line before the deadline this month does look unlikely but keeping Murillo looks like a thankless task.

Ultimately, Forest must now prepare for life after Murillo and hopefully, there are some irons in the fire when it comes to replacement.

The defender was in fine form last season for Forest, winning the club’s Player of the Year accolade with a host of eye-catching performances.

As a left-sided defender, Forest have every right to demand mega money for Murillo and ultimately he’s the star attraction on Trentside.

Chelsea offering players could work in Forest’s players but they need to be the right players and not cast-offs.

If the Blues are going to offer two in the deal, at least one has to be one of their top youngsters, considering they would be taking a promising youngster off of Forest.

Jamie Redknapp was impressed with Murillo back in October and called him ‘quality’ following his display against Crystal Palace.

This deal does feel intriguing and it’s certainly one to watch in the coming days and weeks.
