'Non-starter': Chelsea aren't going to sign 'excellent' player this summer despite rumours - journalist

Journalist Matt Law has ruled out Chelsea signing one player this summer.

Chelsea have been linked with a lot of players recently, including several forwards.

The Blues could sign a new striker and winger before the transfer window closes.

Jonathan David is one man who is thought to be on their radar, while they appear to be in the market for a wide attacker after targeting Michael Olise. Olise was said to have been their No.1 priority at one point, but he is now set to join Bayern Munich.

Like Olise, though, another Premier League player will not be joining Chelsea this summer it seems.

Chelsea will need to pay insane money

Chelsea could do with a new striker joining the club before the 2024/25 Premier League season starts.

There is still plenty of time for them to sign one.

However, one man who will not be joining them by the looks of things is Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

According to Law, it would take an “insane” amount of money for Chelsea to sign him and the Blues are not after his signature as a result.

On X, The Telegraph journalist said: “Chelsea are not in the market to buy Alexander Isak this summer. The money involved would be insane, which makes it a non-starter.”

How much would Chelsea actually need to pay to sign Alexander Isak?

Isak is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and showed that last season.

In 30 appearances for the Magpies, he scored 21 goals to help his side finish just below Chelsea in the table.

Still just 24 as well, Isak should also get better in the future.

Even so, he is not worth the money it could take to get him out of St James’ Park this summer.

It has been claimed that Chelsea would have to smash the £200m barrier to land the Sweden international.

At that price, a deal for Isak, whose finishing has been described as “excellent” by Alan Shearer, is just not feasible.
