Report: Saudi Arabia’s PIF to meet with Liverpool player’s representatives in coming weeks

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be eager to put his own stamp on things after taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

He does have a very difficult job on his hands given the superb job done by his predecessor, who will be sorely missed at Anfield.

And Slot now has the very important job of making sure more fan favourites do not follow Klopp out the exit door this summer.

That could certainly be the case, with the future of many Liverpool players up in the air ahead of the new season.

The new manager already lost two senior stars before even arriving at Anfield, with Thiago and Joel Matip having left at the end of last season.

Saudi’s PIF to meet with Virgil van Dijk’s representatives

The midfielder and the centre-back exited upon the expiry of their contracts, with a few key players potentially heading for that situation next summer.

One of which is captain fantastic Virgil van Dijk, with the central defender’s deal at Anfield expiring in June 2025.

CaughtOffside has now issued an update on the Netherlands star, reporting that the Public Investment Fund (PIF) will meet his representatives in the coming weeks over a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.

Slot clearly has big plans for Van Dijk at Liverpool, with the centre-back representing the first Reds player he spoke to after landing the job.

Will Liverpool stars move to the Saudi Pro League?

Keeping the captain at Anfield should undoubtedly be in and around the top of Slot’s list of priorities, with fans certain to be distraught if Van Dijk was to exit this summer.

He has been one of the world’s leading players in his position since moving to Merseyside, constantly stepping up for the Reds when they need him the most.

Losing him is simply unthinkable, with the Netherlands star a leader both on and off the pitch, improving the standards of all around him.

Very worryingly, Van Djik isn’t the only Liverpool star wanted by the Saudi Pro League, with his Anfield teammate Mohamed Salah also linked with a move there.

The Reds are looking for a fee in excess of £100million for such a deal to take place, with Salah’s current deal also expiring next summer.
