Fabrizio Romano claims Wolves are now closing on 'extremely smart' signing, he's keen on Molineux move

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a new striker in recent weeks as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of next season.

Gary O’Neil has numerous attackers who can play as false nines or go into the channels, but Wolves don’t really have a physical presence who can hold the ball up.

Now, there has been an exciting development on that front, with Fabrizio Romano relaying information regarding an exciting striker likened to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Wolves closing in on Jorgen Strand Larsen

The player in question is Celta Vigo and Norway striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, and Wolves are said to be closing in on his signature.

Romano took to X to report that Wolves are advancing in talks to sign the 24-year-old, with negotiations progressing fast.

In addition, Larsen is said to be keen on a move to Molineux, and personal terms between player and club are also set to be agreed.

Romano added that Italian clubs were also in the race for Larsen, but Wolves are confident in getting a deal over the line.

Who is Wolves target Jorgen Strand Larsen?

Jorgen Strand Larsen is a 24-year-old striker who plies his trade for Spanish side Celta Vigo and represents Norway at international level.

He began his football journey in his home nation, with Kvik Halden and Sarpsborg – via a loan at AC Milan’s academy – before joining Dutch outlet Groningen in 2020.

After proving himself in the Netherlands, Larsen secured a move to Celta Vigo in 2022, where he has gone from strength to strength.

Last season, the 6ft 4in ace registered 13 goals and three assists in 37 La Liga outings. He also has 14 caps for Norway, scoring three times.

Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has likened him to Sweden icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic on X, and has also described him as an “extremely interesting” forward.

Things seem to be heading on the right track, and if all goes well, a “here we go” will hopefully be on the cards sooner rather than later.

On the outgoings front, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Pedro Neto, who is attracting suitors at Euro 2024.
