Chelsea in talks with Premier League club about potentially signing multiple players this summer - journalist

Chelsea are in the market to sign a number of players for the first team this summer.

New manager Enzo Maresca is certainly looking for a number of additions to be made in order to give the best possible platform for success ahead of his first season of Premier League management.

They have already confirmed the addition of Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, beating a number of other Premier League sides to a deal.

It was believed their priority was to add Michael Olise to their ranks, however the financial aspects of the deal saw them turn away from a deal.

The most recent top Premier League name they were tentatively linked with is Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

Chelsea talking to Newcastle United about multiple players

However, it quickly emerged that deal would be near-enough impossible to pull off due to the money needed to sign him.

However, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that the Blues are likely to have actually been in talks about signing a number of players who are not the striker.

He said on his Substack: “SPTC sources have said the recent contact with Newcastle’s owners were ‘not specifically’ about Isak anyway.

“Chelsea have good relations with the Newcastle owners and to me this is probably just a bit of a cheeky ask on Isak, whilst in discussions about other players.

“At the moment we don’t know which players have been spoken about. We also know that Newcastle have an interest in both Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher, so talks may have been about those two.

“Recently, Chelsea have had an interest in Isak, Bruno Guimarães, Anthony Gordon, and Callum Wilson.”

Big season for Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk

The Blues made a big effort to sign Gordon the window before he eventually moved to St. James’ Park, however they were unable to get a deal over the line at that time.

It has been claimed that despite missing out on Olise, a winger is still high on the agenda at Stamford Bridge.

This could cause trouble for Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk, who themselves have a big season ahead in order to convince the club that they should be the ones looked to in the future of the roles.
