No word from Celtic but the latest staff appointment at Lennoxtown appears to be confirmed

Former Celtic winger Jonny Hayes was spotted arriving at Lennoxtown on Thursday amidst reports he is taking up a coaching role with the Bhoys.

Hayes, who retired as a player at the end of his latest season with Aberdeen, is expected to be involved in the Celtic B coaching set-up with Stephen McManus.

Darren O’Dea was in a similar role previously but has become the club’s new Player Pathway Manager, helping bridge the gap between youth teams and the senior squad.

Photo agency SNS Group snapped Hayes arriving with McManus at the start of pre-season yesterday, appearing to confirm his appointment at the Bhoys.

As of yet, there has been no official word from the club but you’d expect an announcement wouldn’t be far away now.

Jonny Hayes reunites with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic

Jonny Hayes made 67 appearances for the Bhoys between 2017 and 2020, having been signed as a winger during Brendan Rodgers’ first spell as a manager.

The former Republic of Ireland international had been working in a youth coaching capacity at the Dons before his exit from Pittodrie so this looks to be a logical next career step.

Hayes is also working towards completing his UEFA Pro Licence alongside Bhoys heroes Scott Brown and Charlie Mulgrew.

Back in April, Rodgers indicated he was keen to utilise the club’s Academy more during his spell as manager.

Celtic B are set to embark on another season in the Scottish Lowland Football League having finished sixth in the division last term.

The youngsters will also be testing themselves in the UEFA Youth League which will partly mirror Celtic’s journey in the new-look UEFA Champions League.
