‘Keep an eye on’: Wolves outcast signed by Nuno Santo is attracting Saudi interest - journalist

A player signed during the Nuno Espirito Santo era at Wolves is now being chased by a club in Saudi Arabia.

It’s been an uncharacteristically fast start to the transfer window for Wolves, who have sealed moves for Tommy Doyle, Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima.

The Wanderers have also entered advanced talks to sign Celta Vigo striker Jorgen Strand Larsen as Gary O’Neil looks to finally land the striker he’s been craving.

Whilst Wolves have been quick to get players through the door early, a number of talents at Molineux are attracting interest from elsewhere having already turned down a bid from West Ham for Max Kilman.

Kilman isn’t the only player linked with a move away as Saudi Arabian clubs have plotted a move for the club’s highest earner, Pablo Sarabia.

The Spaniard is joined by another Wolves player in attracting interest from the Middle East…

Fabio Silva is wanted by Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah

Journalist Ben Jacobs has been speaking about all things transfer-related on The Wolfpack Podcast, and it would appear Wolves outcast Fabio Silva is fancied by Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah.

Signed by Nuno Espirito Santo for a club-record £35 million in 2020, Silva’s time in Wolverhampton has spiralled into a nightmare.

Scoring just five goals in 72 appearances, while failing to impress on loan at Rangers last term, O’Neil is desperate to shift on the Portuguese striker, especially after he claimed he never wanted to join Wolves in the first place.

Still only 21, Silva has plenty of time to turn his career around and according to Jacobs, that could be with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

“Al-Qadsiah, who are a Saudi club, are another team to just keep an eye on,” Jacobs said. “And the ex-Rangers CEO has just moved over to Al-Qadsiah and only started a couple of days ago.

“They are trying to be very ambitious with their signings and like I said before, Fabio Silva falls into that categorisation of a player who is 21 at the moment so ticks the box of being a young player and allows the Saudis to sign a 21-year-old or younger so they can sign 10 foreigners instead of eight.”

Fabio Silva can fade into the abyss by leaving for Saudi

Following a disastrous four seasons at Molineux and doing himself no favours during his time in Scotland, Silva’s stock has never been lower.

With his contract not expiring till 2026, Wolves have to somehow generate a fee for a player who struggled in the Scottish Premiership, netting just twice in 13 appearances.

Silva’s agent has previously said joining Serie A sides Bologna or Fiorentina is a possibility but whether they’d fork out for the Portuguese forward remains to be seen.

For the Wolves outcast to get his career back on track, joining a Saudi Arabian club at such a tender age is one way to be forgotten about completely.

Instead of chasing a reputable career in a top European league, he’d be chasing a pay cheque and that is ultimately a decision he’s got to make.

One thing is for certain, Wolves must shift his £80,000-a-week wages from the roster this summer and end his nightmare once and for all.
