Report: People 'behind the scenes' at Newcastle expecting big announcement to come before pre-season starts

Newcastle United’s summer could receive a major boost with the club potentially set to confirm a major announcement before pre-season even begins.

The summer transfer window is going to be a tricky one for Newcastle and Eddie Howe with the Magpies needing to offload some players to meet the PSR deadline.

Lloyd Kelly is the only new player to come through the doors at St James’ Park this summer after joining on a free transfer following his Bournemouth exit.

But there is a big demand on the Toon to offload some of their players this weekend with the likes of Yankuba Minteh one of the potential departures.

Fabrizio Romano has already suggested Minteh is a player who could leave over the next 48 hours.

Despite the prospect of more players arriving, the biggest news of the some could come from a big announcement which is expected over the coming weeks.

Newcastle expecting internal announcement soon

Ahead of the summer, there was a lot of talk about whether Newcastle would have to sell one of their big guns to comply with the PSR deadline.

Fortunately, that does not seem to be the case with Bruno Guimaraes having recently signed a new deal on Tyneside.

But speculation has remained over the future of their Sweden international Alexander Isak who has been subject of interest from across the Premier League.

This week alone, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a potential swoop for Isak with an audacious swap deal.

According to GiveMeSport, people behind the scenes at Newcastle are expecting Isak’s proposed new deal to be sealed before pre-season begins.

Isak has had the summer to relax after Sweden failed to qualify for this summer’s European Championship.

But he has still found his name in the headlines due to the speculation over his future which he is soon expected to silence.

The new deal for the 24-year-old is expected to be in line with Guimaraes’ in the sense it will have a release clause written into it.

Richarlison issued blunt response to Alexander Isak swap

Earlier in the week, it was claimed Tottenham had tested the waters with an ambitious proposal for the Newcastle striker.

Reports suggested Daniel Levy had put forward an offer of £60m + Richarlison to the Magpies for the 24-year-old.

However, the Spurs striker has taken little time in hitting back at these suggestions as he responded by simply replying “fake” to a social media post.

It is a deal which would really be worth in the region of £120m given Richarlison was bought for £60m in 2022, but clearly, Isak is a player who Newcastle want to keep around for a considerable number of years more.
