Report: Liverpool now keen on signing 'outstanding' £35m goalkeeper who is starring at Euro 2024

Liverpool might be looking for a number of outfield signings this summer but they could now be in with a chance of landing one of the Euros’ top goalkeepers.

The Reds have current number one Alisson Becker in place but could face losing Caoimhin Kelleher, while Alisson himself is being eyed by the Saudi Pro League.

Of course, Arne Slot will be fully expecting Alisson to stay put and spending big money on a new goalkeeper is something high on his agenda.

However, should Alisson decide to move on or Liverpool decide they’re going in another direction, then a new name is being thrown their way.

And that man is Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has been starring for Georgia in the Euros over in Germany.

Liverpool among teams who could sign Giorgi Mamardashvili

According to Spanish journalist Diego Pico, who was speaking for Marca, Liverpool are considered among the teams who could sign Mamardashvili.

It’s claimed that while Newcastle are still the most concrete team in England when it comes to interest in Mamardashvili, Liverpool are also presenting an opportunity.

It should be caveated that there is no specific mention of a bid of any sort from the Reds.

However, with the potential offer for Alisson from Saudi, a player like Mamardashvili is bound to feature somewhere on their list.

Mamardashvili has been ‘outstanding’ over in the Euros and has helped Georgia into the last 16.

He kept a clean sheet against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal this week to further enhance his reputation and Valencia value him at at least £35m.

Quite whether an English club will pay that fee for Mamardashvili, remains to be seen.

But should Alisson move on, then the Georgian has shown himself this summer to be a more than capable replacement.
