'Wolves felt like...': Pedro Lima explains why he picked Wolves over a transfer move to Chelsea

Wolves are set to sign wonderkid Pedro Lima over the coming days, with the youngster explaining why he picked Molineux over a potential move to Chelsea.

Wolves’ business so far this summer has been nothing short of fantastic. The club have already made their first signing with Rodrigo Gomes joining the club.

Following this acquisition, it looks all but certain that Lima and Jorgen Strand Larsen will follow the Portuguese man through the door.

Lima is particularly exciting. The right-back is only 17 years old but has bundles of potential. However, the signing didn’t always look likely.

Chelsea were the frontrunners for Lima’s signature until Wolves hijacked the deal. Now, ahead of the move, the right-back has explained why he chose Molineux to take the next step of his career.

With plenty of clubs circling this summer, Lima had a big choice to make. Either the Brazilian could join Gary O’Neil’s side in the Premier League, or move to play for Strasbourg in France who are owned by the same group as Chelsea.

However, for Lima, there was only one option. Speaking to ge ahead of his Wolves move, the youngster believes that Wolves was the ‘right path to take’ for his goals.

He said: “Since my childhood, my mother always told me to stay where I felt most at peace. When I saw the two projects, I saw the Wolverhampton project, I felt like that was my home. And that’s what mattered.

“It wasn’t a question of salary, of money, it was more a question of projecting my career. I think a lot about the future, I know where I want to go and I’m looking for the right paths towards my life’s goals.”

Adding to this, Lima was also asked if it has sunken in yet that he will be a Premier League player in the coming weeks. He stated: “It hasn’t yet, Maybe it will only sink in when I get there and see the other players up close, put on Wolverhampton’s shirt and enter the field”

To read a youngster acting so mature early on in his career is such a breath of fresh air. Lima could have easily taken the money and moved into Chelsea’s sphere. However, he is already thinking about his long-term career at such a young age.

These days, such maturity is hard to come by in football and it only proves further that Wolves have signed a gem.

Lima is clearly excited to join the club and represent the Old Gold on the field.

No doubt the Molineux faithful will support him throughout his journey and make Wolverhampton ‘feel like home’. Hopefully, over the coming months, Lima will settle in well and can start to unlock his potential under O’Neil.
