West Ham have just made a £21m bid to sign title-winning midfielder compared to N'Golo Kante - journalist

West Ham are ploughing along with their summer transfer plans and have apparently now made a bid to sign one of Serie A’s standout midfielders.

The Hammers are one of a number of clubs in England set for a new era this season as Julen Lopetegui takes over from David Moyes.

The West Ham board are already working hard to bring players in for Lopetegui and they’ve already made moves to sign Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United and Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.

However, more could soon be on the way.

West Ham want to strengthen for the new boss and that means spending more money and ensuring another busy window.

And according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Hammers have now made a bid worth more than £20m to sign Genoa star, Morten Frendrup.

West Ham make offer to sign Morten Frendrup

Taking to X to share the news on Frendrup, Tavolieri has confirmed that the Hammers have indeed lodged a £21m bid for the Dane.

Frendrup is Mr Versatile and has drawn N’Golo Kante comparisons

It’s little surprise to see Genoa players being linked with moves away this summer.

They had a fine season last year and it’s only natural that players have caught the eye of English clubs.

Frendrup is certainly a player who has a lot to offer and the fact he can play in multiple positions also helps his cause.

Indeed, he has even been compared to French star N’Golo Kante.

“Morten Frendrup reminds me of N’Golo Kante. Big comparison, I know, but they share some of the same traits,” Football Talent scout Jacek Kulig has previously said.

“They are both not the biggest and most intimidating midfielders, but they are both fast, great at reading the game, and they intercept almost everything.

“Both players are also good dribblers of the ball, and Kante has evolved into a well-rounded midfielder with offensive abilities, which also could become the case with Frendrup.”

The Hammers, then, could land a top player here if Genoa do eventually cave in and sell.
