'Spurs and Chelsea still keen': Graham Smyth shares Saturday evening update on Archie Gray

Archie Gray looks like he is on his way out of Leeds United this weekend after a deal was apparently agreed with Brentford.

The Bees are looking to beat a host of top clubs to the signing of Gray and reports on Saturday have suggested a £40m deal has been agreed.

News of Gray going to Brentford comes as a blow to the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham, who have both declared interest in the player.

Likewise, Manchester United and Arsenal have also made their feelings on Gray known as well.

Of course, as it stands, it looks like Gray is one his way to Brentford.

However, according to Yorkshire Post and Leeds journalist Graham Smyth, not everything is complete just yet and he’s taken to X to share why things might still take a late twist.

Chelsea and Tottenham still keen on signing Archie Gray

According to Smyth, Brentford are looking to get a medical done for Gray tonight.

And that comes as the likes of Spurs and Chelsea still feel they are in the mix to sign the Leeds youngster, despite Brentford’s apparent agreement.

Gray was a key player for Leeds last season under Daniel Farke and played the majority of the campaign at right-back.

Archie Gray is a star of the future

If Brentford do pull this one off, there’ll be questions from every direction.

For one, Leeds fans will be wondering why they’ve allowed their star youngster to go to a club who many a Leeds fan will feel are no bigger or better than them.

For Leeds fans, seeing Gray go to an Arsenal or a Tottenham would have made more sense and be easier to digest.

Likewise, those clubs like Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea, will be wondering how they’ve managed to not get a deal for Gray over the line.

Either way, it looks like the youngster is in for a fine career and if it’s at Brentford, then the big clubs will feel they’ve missed out.
