Report: Liverpool really want to sign 'electric' Euro 2024 attacker but he's not set to stay at current club

A rumoured Liverpool target is now set to stay at his current club, according to a recent report.

The Arne Slot era is well underway at Anfield and he’ll be eager to make his own imprint on the squad this summer transfer window.

The forward line is clearly an area he’s identified that needs addressing as the club have been linked to a number of wingers over the last few weeks.

One has been of particular interest, though, that deal now seems to be unlikely.

Anthony Gordon to Liverpool unlikely

According to The Guardian, Liverpool are eager to sign Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon this summer but a move is now unlikely.

After the expected sales of Yankuba Minteh to Brighton and Hove Albion and Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest, the Magpies seem to be out of the woods regarding a possible breach of Profit and Sustainability.

It had been mooted that Gordon, who Alex Iwobi described as ‘electric’ via Sky Sports, was going to be sold as a last resort to comply with PSR regulations but late offers, and substantial ones at that, for Minteh and Anderson has given them a major boost.

Gordon, Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are all now expected to stay in what has been a chaotic few days on Tyneside.

Liverpool will have to move on to other targets.

Liverpool should go for Crysencio Summerville

With Gordon now set to stay at Newcastle, Summerville now should be the priority target for the left-wing position.

Slot’s compatriot has ripped it up in the Championship with Leeds, netting a whopping 21 times whilst laying on 10 assists.

The 22-year-old would cost a fraction of the Gordon’s price, so it’d allow funds to be spent on other areas, too.
