Taylor Swift 'predicted' falling in love with Travis Kelce - 'I will not mess this up again'

Taylor Swift fans are reminiscing over the time she asked for “the honor of starting over” at an Eras Tour show with Travis Kelce in the crowd – before they even began dating.

Has any string of concerts provided more magical moments than the Eras Tour? If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, the answer is perhaps the fastest “of course not” you’ve ever uttered. The epic concert rollout began in March 2023, and as you’ll know, lots has changed for the 34-year-old music icon since then, including the fact she found new love with Travis Kelce. They went public at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September, but Swifties have plucked an earlier moment from the vaults that truly signaled the turning of the tides for both of their lives…

Taylor Swift ‘started over’ with Travis Kelce

Making the rounds once again on TikTok, the clip of Taylor having trouble performing the classic song Last Kiss from Speak Now is worth dwelling on, considering it was Travis’ first time attending one of his future girlfriend’s shows.

Performing in Kansas City on Saturday, July 8, 2023, she fumbled the lyrics to the song twice during the show’s acoustic segment.

“We have this rule on this tour where if I mess up a song, I have to play it again some other time on the tour so that I can avenge myself,” she confessed to thousands of surprised fans. “I got too excited, I got too excited. Will you allow me the honor of starting over?”

She added: “I love this one, why am I doing this to this song… I swear I will not mess this up again.”

With talk of starting over and not messing up, fans feel she may have unknowingly been talking about love in this now iconic moment.

“That is actually poetic,” a fan reacted to the resurfaced clips, knowing that she did actually start over, but with her love life. “An honor to start over with him.”

Some fans have isolated lines—”Will you allow me the honor of starting over”, and “I swear I will not mess this up again”—arguing it must have been fate.

“This makes me tear up because she truly had no idea what was waiting for her,” a fan suggested, another adding, “The universe was SHOUTING to her. Girl, he’s here, THE start over is here!”

Taylor Swift confirms they ‘started hanging out’ after that night

She truly did start over in love after that pivotal Eras Tour show.

Travis put Taylor on blast as she declined meeting him backstage after he attended her concert, and he mentioned it on his podcast he does with his brother Jason. Taylor saw this and thought it was so ‘metal’, and reached out.

“We started hanging out right after that,” Taylor told TIME in a previous interview. “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

When she attended her first Chiefs game, which was against the Chicago Bears on September 24th, she says they were already a couple.

“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game?” she quizzed during the interview. “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
