At the beginning of this month, we’ve gotten to see several concepts that take the 2022 Ford Maverick – the smallest new truck on the market – and reimagine it, including a glimpse at the off-road potential the new truck has to offer. We’ve also seen it turned into a pocket rocket tailored towards street performance. Now, the latest concept for the Ford Maverick comes from legendary hot rod designer Chip Foose, who draws up an idea that completely transforms the Maverick once again, this time giving it an iconic Shelby appearance.
2022 Ford Maverick Shelby Concept By Chip Foose
The 2022 Ford Maverick may share the same nameplate as the 1970s Maverick, but the two are far from the same. To start, the old Maverick was a passenger car. However, Chip Foose’s concept created with his ballpoint pen and markets reimagines the tiny truck into something far from the typical rugged off-roader. By dropping down the ground clearance of the Maverick and adding larger wheels, it immediately takes on a muscle car stance. Meanwhile, the lower portion of the front fascia has received a rugged look that closely resembles the Mustang. The front fascia also features air intakes that allow for the breaks to stay cool. In addition, the vehicle gets a wide-body with blacked-out fenders to help flesh out the performance stance.
Additional details on Shelby Ford Maverick concept from Chip Foose includes white paint with blue Shelby striped graphics that stretch from the front bumper up over the hood. Additionally, the hood has received a scoop that is intended to be fully functional and allow for more air to reach the engine and potentially boost the Maverick’s horsepower. Lastly, a wing that matches the black accents on the rear of the vehicle flows off the tailgate and ultimately completes the overall look of the Shelby Maverick concept.
There’s an immense amount of potential for the Ford Maverick, that much is clear, and the various concepts we’ve seen focused around it shows that there’s no shortage of potential to modify the vehicle to fit whatever needs customers may have.
