TAPOUT TUNING CADILLAC CT4-V BLACKWING SETS QUARTER-MILE RECORD

Tapout Tuning has been hard at work putting together a performance package for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. They’ve spent eight months, driven 8,000 miles, did 165 dyno pulls, and put in five track days working on the package. It’s not quite done yet, but the team says it’s getting close to releasing their performance package for the CT4-V Blackwing, which we see in the form of this Electric Blue example sending it down the drag strip.

While you can’t see how quick the pass is, Tapout Tuning has stated that it was a low eleven-second pass. Since it’s a solo pass, there aren’t any other cars running which means we get to hear how excellent the company’s new CT4-V Blackwing catless downpipes sound. Another pass that they have posted on their YouTube channel has the car making a new world quarter-mile record for the CT4-V Blackwing. The record stands at 11.11 seconds at 127.2 mph for this car in particular.

Off the Lansing Grand River Assembly line, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing has 410 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque via its 3.6L LF4 twin-turbo V6 engine (it’s actually the only GM vehicle to rock this high-output V6). But Tapout Tuning shows that its performance package can deliver 568 ponies and 614 lb-ft of torque; a drastic change. Details on how this is achieved remain scarce.

Below 3,500 rpm, all of the driveability aspects of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing remain, but once the accelerator pedal is above 70 to 80%, things start to get fun. According to Tapout Tuning, at WOT in Track mode, the automatic 10-speed cars upshift between 6,400 and 6,500 rpm, so the car is always running between 4,700 and 6,500 rpm. They have modified the powerband between 4,000 and 6,500 rpm to cover both the automatic and manual cars. They say the tuning is nearly complete, and they have just a few more items that need to be resolved. Once they are ready, all details of the Tapout Tuning CT4-V Blackwing Performance Packages will be announced.
