RUMOR: GM ALREADY PRODUCING AND STOCKPILING C8 CORVETTE Z06 SPECIFIC PARTS

Supply chain issues over the past two years have automakers like Ford Motor Company and General Motors re-evaluating the entire strategy at hand. In the case of the C8 Corvette Stingray, GM still can’t quite meet the rabid demand. And in the case of the Z06 and all of its record-setting promise, there’s sure to be even more extreme. But with that said, there’s a juicy rumor that suggest that the automaker is getting a bit of a head start on producing vital parts for the C8 Corvette Z06 and stockpiling them. Delays may still occur, but they may be less frequent by taking on this new tactic.

2023 Corvette Z06 Production: New Details

According to the Mid-Engine Corvette Forum, a source claims that GM started production for a Z06-specific part. Though the part is unknown, they had previously made small batches with this part for the prototypes of the Z06. However, word is that Bowling Green Assembly is now mass producing them, which likely means the plant is preparing for producing customer cars, which is still on track for a “Summer 2022” production timeline. That could mean as late as September 21, but it’s a timeline Chevrolet maintains on communicating.

While production remains on target, customers are still eagerly waiting on official pricing information for the 2023 Corvette Z06, but it’s nevertheless anticipated that the starting MSRP will fly under the $100,000 mark.

Starting the production of vital parts ahead of the start of mass vehicle production is a safe bet, especially with how popular the Corvette Z06 is and how high demand is bound to be. That said, the chip shortage continues to afflict The General, with roughly 95,000 nearly-completed vehicles that are still waiting on components to be finished on the side.
